Orlando City SC line up ex-Italian international as next signing?

With Mason Stajduhar, Kevin Alston and Joe Bendik already in the bag for Adrian Heath’s side, TuttoMercatoWeb are claiming Antonio Nocerino could be the next arrival at Orlando City SC this MLS off-season.

Currently at Serie A giants AC Milan, the 30-year-old former Italian international has made just a SINGLE start in the league so far this season while receiving just one other opportunity from the bench.

An unused substitute in Serie A on eight occasions since these appearances in August, Nocerino is clearly surplus to requirements at the San Siro but Orlando City SC aren’t alone in their reported quest to provide Nocerino a new home.

The same reports claim Bologna and Greek giants Panathinaikos are also monitoring Nocerino’s situation closely although Lions fans will be hoping it is they who land the defensive midfielder to add some vital experience and depth to the current ranks.

Nocerino – who would be expected to replace either Carlos Rivas or Bryan Rochez as a DP if signed – was of course a team-mate of current Orlando City SC talisman Kaka during his second spell with the Rossoneri back in the 2013/14 campaign.

And what’s more, Orlando City SC’s hopes of signing Nocerino could be buoyed given the fact Milan moved to re-sign Kevin-Prince Boateng on a six-month contract this week.

The Ghanaian international’s arrival as a free agent will only push Nocerino further down the central midfield pecking order under current boss Siniša Mihajlović.
