Having joined AC Milan from Sicilian side Palermo back in August 2011 on Italian transfer deadline day, it was a year later in 2012 whereby Nocerino’s stock rose further.
Inheriting specific squad numbers at certain clubs in Europe is a big deal and in the summer of 2012, Nocerino assumed the number 8 jersey formerly belonging to Rossoneri great Gennaro Gattuso.
As reported by Goal.com back in August 2012, Nocerino admitted he was proud to assume such an iconic number at the San Siro.
At the time he claimed: “When we played the last match at San Siro against Novara, Rino told me he would be pleased if I took his old number, and that is what has happened.
