A victory at last! Even now I don’t quite know how we managed to pull it off but a 100th minute spot kick successfully converted by Kaká ensured that Orlando City SC bagged their fourth win of 2016 on Saturday.
Overcoming and leapfrogging Toronto FC in the MLS Eastern Conference standings courtesy of the dramatic, last gasp 3-2 victory, it looked as if the Lions were frustratingly going to end up tying their FOURTH 2-2 draw in a row.
However, given referee Ismail Elfath’s massive decision to send off TFC’s Josh Williams for tugging down Julio Baptista in stoppage time while then awarding the Lions the chance for all three points, we FINALLY received the luck we deserved.
In all honesty a decision that looked questionable with Julio Baptista making the most of the situation, none of us Orlando City SC supporters cared given the fact that yet another 2-2 would’ve proved highly damaging for the team’s psyche.
While the scenes at the full-time whistle were jubilant, the fact we suffered the umpteenth defensive lapse in concentration this season when allowing Justin Morrow to tie the game late on, Adrian Heath knows Orlando City SC simply must improve defensively.
Bordering on the ridiculous now given how many times the Lions have surrendered winning positions so far this season, the full-time whistle brought relief for City supporters in a classic topsy, turvy Orlando City SC encounter.
