Tuesday July 25th was a great day to be an Orlando City SC supporter! Indeed, the Lions successfully completed a deal to acquire Dom Dwyer from Sporting Kansas City.

After a gutting 0-1 defeat to Atlanta United last Friday, news of Dom Dwyer’s signing has inspired Orlando City SC‘s fanbase once again and at a crucial point of the season too.

Having uncharacteristically only scored 22 goals so far this MLS season, signing a clinical goalscorer like Dom Dwyer is exactly the shot in the arm Jason Kreis‘ side needed.

Representing Orlando City SC‘s first move in Major League Soccer’s secondary transfer window, Dom Dwyer is certainly somebody who’s been at the top of our wishlist for quite some time.

After all, Adrian Heath got in trouble with MLS after publicly pursuing Dom Dwyer last season with Sporting Kansas City boss Peter Vermes far from impressed.

But all that is history with Orlando City SC having finally got their man in a deal that could be worth up to $1.6 million in Allocation Money.

Most definitely a sign that Major League Soccer is on an upward trajectory, pulling off this multi-million dollar deal from a league rival has got the whole league talking.

With Orlando City SC Twitter naturally in a frenzy right now, here’s some of the best tweets from Tuesday evening as Lions supporters welcomed Dom Dwyer home!
