Once on the books of Manchester United between 2004 and 2006, former United States international Kenny Cooper is currently training with Orlando City SC.

Revealed by the Orlando Sentinel’s Alicia DelGallo on Tuesday, the 33-year-old striker last tasted competitive action for Montreal Impact back in 2015.

With the Orlando City SC squad still in training in anticipation of Saturday’s Fuerza Puerto Rico charity fixture, Kenny Cooper is still not giving up on his own playing career.

Speaking about Kenny Cooper’s trial stint in Central Florida, Lions head coach Jason Kreis said: “It’s been a while since he’s knocked around with a MLS team, and he’s still hopeful to resurrect his career, so we thought we’d have a look.”

A well-travelled striker having been on the books of 12 different clubs during an 11-year professional career, both Oldham Athletic and Plymouth Argyle supporters will be familiar with Kenny Cooper having represented both sides.

Kenny Cooper’s most successful spells came at FC Dallas (40 goals in 90 MLS appearances) and New York Red Bulls (18 goals in 33 MLS appearances) with the striker also receiving 10 caps for the USMNT between 2007 and 2009.

With Orlando City SC also reportedly eyeing Malmö FF striker Jo Inge Berget right now, it appears the club are busy sourcing potential replacements for Cyle Larin.

With the Canadian international revealing his ambitions to move to Europe this winter, replacing his goal haul is imperative to the club’s future success.
