Orlando City SC have been one of the most active clubs in the transfer market this MLS off-season and there could well be more to come.

According to Serbian source Mozzart Sport, Orlando City SC have had a €800,000 bid rejected for Partizan Belgrade centre back Nemanja R. Miletić.

After selling one of our own in Tommy Redding who joined New York Red Bulls alongside Carlos Rivas in the deal for Sacha Kljestan, the Lions’ need for a centre back replacement is great.

In truth, Orlando City SC needed to strengthen the centre back position before Tommy Redding‘s departure and the latest rumoured incoming is 26-year-old Nemanja R. Miletić.

Not to be confused with Nemanja G. Miletić, a left back who also plays for Partizan Belgrade, Mozzart Sport’s report claims Orlando City SC‘s €800,000 offer was lodged last Thursday.

It’s believed the Lions’ offer has been rejected because Nemanja R. Miletić is a key member of Partizan Belgrade’s starting eleven and with important Europa League knockout games against Viktoria Plzeň coming up in February.

A tough and imposing centre back, Nemanja R. Miletić boasts qualities that Orlando City SC are definitely lacking right now but it remains to be seen whether Jason Kreis‘ side will return with an improved bid.

Nevertheless, it’s reassuring that the Orlando City SC Front Office seem to be actively pursuing an experienced centre back partner for Jonathan Spector.

Having already signed Libya international left back Mohamed El-Munir from Partizan Belgrade this winter, Orlando City SC seem to have been heavily scouting the 2016/17 Serbian champions.

If that wasn’t enough, Mozzart Sport’s report also claims Orlando City SC are one of a number of clubs holding an interest in their 29-year-old Brazilian defensive midfielder Everton Luiz too.

I suppose we’ll all have to watch this space…
