Orlando City SC have today announced the marquee signing of two-time MLS Cup champion and CONCACAF Champions League winner Nicolás Lodeiro after the attacking midfielder departed Seattle Sounders on December 12.

Signing a contract through 2024 with an option for 2025, Lodeiro won’t occupy a Designated Player slot at Inter&Co Stadium despite his proven calibre. Ultimately, the 34-year-old MLS veteran now fills the void left by fellow Uruguayan number 10 Mauricio Pereyra who spent four-and-a-half years in Central Florida before mutually terminating his City contract and returning to Nacional in December. After Mauricio Pereyra mutually terminated his contract with City on December 6 before re-joining Nacional shortly after, experienced fellow Uruguayan Lodeiro now adequately fills the void left by Pereyra who spent four-and-a-half years at Inter&Co Stadium. Continue reading

Drawing 0-0 at Seattle Sounders on a long-haul cross-country road trip, Oscar Pareja‘s Orlando City SC now return to Central Florida to contest two consecutive home fixtures at Exploria Stadium – starting with Chicago Fire.

The Lions are currently seventh in the Eastern Conference on 28 points. They sit two points above both the red and Wild Card match lines, and look much steadier, if not spectacular, in pursuit of clinching a place in the 2023 MLS Cup Playoffs. Continue reading

With Duncan McGuire and Martín Ojeda scoring their sixth and fourth City goals in midweek, there was plenty to be proud of. Nevertheless, José Martínez’s 90th minute equaliser, albeit a goal-of-the-season contender, was painfully the THIRD equaliser the Lions have conceded at home after the 85th minute mark this year. Following Orlando City SC‘s narrow 1-0 loss at Atlanta United, James O’Connor‘s side complete the second part of a tough two-game road streak at Seattle Sounders.

Having not scored an MLS goal since September 1 and now equalling an all-time league worst goals conceded total of 70, the end of the season can’t come quick enough for Orlando City SC.

The year 2018 has turned out to be an absolute disaster for the Lions with James O’Connor‘s side yet again looking bereft of ideas in a gutless 2-0 defeat at New England Revolution. Continue reading
