With the Antonio Nocerino deal nearing completion, Orlando City SC have also moved to retain a current star in the form of Rafael Ramos who signed a new two-year extension today.
The 21-year-old Portuguese has built a reputation for himself as one of the most attack-minded full backs in all of Major League Soccer.
Having joined the club in its USL format back in 2014, Orlando City UK is delighted that Ramos will be remaining at the Citrus Bowl for the foreseeable future.
While Kevin Alston will provide competition for Ramos at right back this season, the Portuguese will make it hard for the Lions’ new boy having started 24 MLS fixtures himself last season which in itself, earned him a bonus payment of over $30,000.
The new two-year extension will now boost Ramos‘ overall income with the former Benfica academy product having originally began on a reserve minimum salary of $50,000 this time last season as reported by Paul Tenorio of the Orlando Sentinel.
Ramos is now the second Lions star to have penned a new deal with Adrian Heath‘s side during the off-season with Darwin Cerén having signed a four-year extension last month.
Well done Rafa!
