With Antonio Nocerino now in the bag, we couldn’t help but spot the fact that Orlando City SC have been linked with another experienced midfielder from Europe of late.
We want to make it clear that the link looks incredibly premature at the moment but according to English source the Daily Star *not the most reliable for our U.S. readers!*, the Lions are one of three clubs chasing after Manchester City’s Yaya Touré.
With one of the other sides apparently fellow MLS franchise New York Red Bulls, the pair are tracking the Ivory Coast international who is expected to be exiting the Etihad Stadium at the end of the 2015/16 campaign.
With Pep Guardiola already set to replace Manuel Pellegrini for 2016/17 while expectedly putting his own stamp on his Citizens side, Touré is expected to be one of the casualties with Juventus’ Paul Pogba apparently being targeted as his midfield successor.
Recently it has been mooted that Touré could be the one of the latest players to receive even more of a bumper payday by moving to China but the Daily Star claims the double-time Premier League winner would prefer a transfer to North America.
Right now, Adrian Heath boasts plenty of options throughout the central and attacking midfield areas with Cristian Higuita, Darwin Cerén, Antonio Nocerino and Kaká to call upon.
However, if a top quality player such as Touré were to become available, it would be interesting to see what would happen but lets be clear, the link looks about as solid as Tampa Bay Mutiny and Miami Fusion’s respective stays in Major League Soccer at present!!
What’s more, if he ever signed for the Lions, the front office would HAVE to make sure he got one of these each May 13th…
