According to an Italian report emerging from TuttoMercatoWeb.com today, AC Milan are reportedly interested in signing Orlando City SC’s Colombian enforcer Cristian Higuita.
With Adrian Heath‘s Lions having of course signed Antonio Nocerino from the Rossoneri back in February, the Serie A giants are still on the lookout for his replacement.
The report claims Orlando City SC value Cristian Higuita at around the €4 million mark with the former Deportivo Cali youth product having racked up 26 appearances in Major League Soccer last season while becoming a key cog in the Lions’ midfield alongside Darwin Cerén.
While AC Milan added Kevin-Prince Boateng to their ranks in the winter transfer window in Europe, the Ghanaian only signed for six months on a free so securing someone such as Cristian Higuita would prove more of a long-term solution.
With Rossoneri youth product Manuel Locatelli having filled Antonio Nocerino‘s slot as a defensive-minded midfielder for the rest of the 2015/16 Serie A campaign, it would appear AC Milan are casting their net wide in this potential raid on Orlando City SC.
What’s more, Cristian Higuita‘s stock could be set to rise even further with the 22-year-old midfielder having been named in Colombia’s provisional 40-man squad for the forthcoming Copa America tournament in the United States.
Any potential swoop for Cristian Higuita would represent the third piece of business conducted between the clubs of course with Kaká having been the first player to move between the sides back in 2014.
