In the week whereby supporters of Costa Rica and Paraguay will descend on Camping World Stadium for the second match of Copa América Centenario, Orlando has ranked top in a recent soccer poll.
Finance specialists WalletHub.com recently ran their ‘2016 Best Cities for Soccer Fans’ study which sampled 296 cities in the United States who boast at least one soccer team, whether professional or college-based.
Ranking each city against a whopping 51 different metrics including everything from the price of season tickets to supporter accessibility to the stadium, Orlando beat out competition from prestigious soccer melting pots such as Los Angeles, Portland and Seattle.
Boasting both Orlando City SC and Orlando Pride who play at Camping World Stadium of course, the bods over at WalletHub.com awarded our teams the highest mark over numerous categories.
Such categories included minimum season ticket price for a Major League Soccer fixture and stadium capacity, not to mention fan engagement itself.
With the average Orlando City SC gate at the then-named Citrus Bowl totalling almost 33,000 supporters last season, the studies’ findings yet again underline the fact that Orlando is not only the Soccer Capital of the South but moreover, the United States at large!
