Adrian Heath‘s successor has now been found as Orlando City SC officially announced Jason Kreis as the Lions’ new head coach around 10pm on Tuesday evening (UK time).
One of the outstanding candidates on City’s shortlist, the experienced Kreis has been in and around Major League Soccer since its inception back in 1996.
The sixth highest goalscorer of all-time in MLS having scored 108 goals in a 12-year playing career that took Jason Kreis to Dallas Burn and then Real Salt Lake, personal success followed in management.
Leading RSL to an MLS Cup championship in 2009, the Claret and Cobalt went onto experience further success under his leadership with a Western Conference title triumph in 2013.
Harshly treated when fired after New York City FC failed to make the MLS Cup play-offs in their inaugural season last term, NYCFC’s loss is Orlando City SC‘s gain.
Since departing Yankee Stadium in November 2015, Jason Kreis has been working as an assistant coach with Jurgen Klinsmann and the U.S. Men’s National Team but after a meeting in Portugal, he will now manage a third MLS franchise.
With Jason Kreis starting work and taking over from interim head coach Bobby Murphy on Monday July 25th, the former U.S. international will be joined by experienced coaches Miles Joseph and C.J. Brown who have been added to the Lions’ staff.
The official report from Orlando City SC also confirms that Bobby Murphy and Stewart Kerr will be remaining in their coaching roles while Anthony Pulis can fully concentrate upon Orlando City B once again.
Speaking about Jason Kreis‘ arrival at Camping World Stadium, Club President Phil Rawlins claimed: “We are very excited that we have got our man.
Elsewhere, Chairman Flavio Augusto da Silva claimed: “I completely support the Board’s decision to appoint Jason.”
All that remains is for Jason Kreis to be officially unveiled by the club with a welcoming ceremony taking place on Wednesday July 20th at 7PM UK time.
The event will be streamed on Facebook Live and in the meantime, you can add our new coach on Twitter at @JasonKreis!
Orlando City UK wants to take this moment to welcome Jason Kreis to Central Florida while wishing him the very best of luck as we embark on this exciting new era.
Vamos Orlando!
