The number of Orlando City SC off-season arrivals now stands at three with experienced Canadian international midfielder Will Johnson having joined the Lions earlier today.
Signing a two-year contract with an option for a third, the 29-year-old looks a shrewd purchase having won MLS Cup twice while earning 41 caps with his national side.
With Donny Toia and Patrick McLain‘s signatures already sealed this winter, Johnson is the most exciting addition to date.

Also making three MLS All-Star squads, Johnson knows Major League Soccer inside out having made 114 appearances for Real Salt Lake, winning MLS Cup in 2009 while also representing Portland Timbers 69 times, winning MLS Cup a second time in 2015.
Most recently representing hometown outfit Toronto FC in 2016, Johnson could well prove the player who sits at the base of Jason Kreis‘ midfield in his favoured diamond formation.
However, until more personnel is secured this off-season, Orlando City UK suggested Orlando City SC‘s strongest starting eleven could see Johnson paired alongside Antonio Nocerino.
While time will reveal all regarding exactly how Will Johnson will be deployed at Orlando City Stadium, Orlando City UK took this moment to gather some of the best tweets following his arrival.
The transfer seems to be a popular one judging from initial reactions…
@Orlando_CityUK Very good signing I think! MLS vet with lots of playoff experience can only be a good thing!

Are we a better squad today with Will Johnson?
We're tougher
We're smarter
