With Orlando City SC‘s off-season now underway, it’s transfer chatter season and they don’t come much bigger than this latest rumour.
According to Brazilian source Yahoo! Esportes, Orlando City SC are interested in signing former Real Madrid and Manchester City striker Robinho.
The report claims Jason Kreis‘ Lions are looking to recruit Robinho in a deal that would be worth around $5 million per year.
Currently playing for Atlético Mineiro in Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, Robinho’s current deal with Galo expires at the end of 2017.
According to the story, they claim Orlando City SC‘s reported offer falls well short of Robinho’s salary expectations.
The Lions’ proposal would amount just over $400,000-a-month for Robinho with the 33-year-old currently earning over $700,000-a-month for Atlético Mineiro.
That said, with Kaká now off the wage bill, perhaps Orlando City SC can flex their muscles with an improved bid should there be any weight to this latest rumour.
The story also included a quote from an unnamed Lions club official that stated: “Kaka money does not exist anymore. We are working within another reality, because Kaká’s money was for Kaka.”
This apparently justifies the drastic reduction in the proposal made to Robinho.
