Winter Orlando City SC transfer rumours have been thin on the ground but yesterday, Jason Kreis‘ Lions were linked with a swoop for Panama international midfielder Manuel Vargas.
According to Panamanian source TVN Panamá, Orlando City SC are one of the clubs reportedly in “the orbit” of the 26-year-old.
We make no apologies for admitting we know nothing about the player and with Manuel Vargas not even having his own Wikipedia page, this only heightened our intrigue.
A translated quote attributed to the rumour claimed: “Several options are being handled by Manuel. Different clubs have asked for him, especially because he has options to play the next World Cup with Panama.
What do we know about Manuel Vargas?
After scouring the world wide web, Manuel Vargas stands at 5 ft 10 in and can play at centre back alongside his preferred position of defensive midfielder.
Currently playing for Liga Panameña de Fútbol side Chorrillo FC, Manuel Vargas has earned seven senior international caps for Panama who of course earned a shock first ever appearance at a FIFA World Cup in October.
Manuel Vargas is certainly an experienced customer having appeared over 100 times in the Panamanian league as well as the CONCACAF Champions League.
He also started and played 71 minutes for Panama in their international friendly against Wales at Cardiff City Stadium back in November.
With options not exercised for both Servando Carrasco and Antonio Nocerino following the end of the 2017 Major League Soccer campaign, we wonder whether Manuel Vargas could potentially fit at the base of Jason Kreis‘ midfield diamond?
