With Orlando City SC still yet to recruit any players ahead of the 2018 Major League Soccer campaign, Lions fans are eager for any new nuggets of information.
It looks a flimsy link right now but according to a report from Alfredo Pedullà on Tuesday, Orlando City SC are reportedly interested in signing Argentine international defender Jonatan Maidana.
After searching “Jonatan Maidana Orlando City” on Twitter, more fuel has been added to the fire by River Plate expert Lucas Ajuria who is translated as saying: “Jonatan Maidana is on the list of Orlando City to reinforce the defence.”
His tweet also suggests that if Jonatan Maidana feels he is no longer needed at River Plate, he will consider a move away from the Buenos Aires giants – a move that the club would be likely to sanction.
Now 32-years-old, experienced centre back Maidana has just won the 2016–17 Copa Argentina with the Buenos Aires giants with the player starting the 2-1 victory over Atlético Tucumán on December 9th.
Having made over 170 league appearances for River Plate since 2010, Jonatan Maidana is a tough and uncompromising centre back who boasts the steel that Orlando City SC have been severely lacking since entering MLS.
Also earning four senior international caps with Argentina since 2011, Jonatan Maidana was a part of La Albiceleste‘s squad that finished runners-up at the 2016 Copa América Centenario.
Orlando City UK continues to keep a close eye on any further news concerning this particular transfer rumour.
