In a huge transfer nobody saw coming before today, Orlando City SC have acquired Iraq international forward Justin Meram in a trade with Columbus Crew.
Still not officially announced by Orlando City SC, ESPNFC claim the Lions have landed Justin Meram in exchange for $1.05 million in Allocation Money plus an international roster spot.
According to the report by Jeff Carlisle Paul Tenorio, the allocation money breakdown is made up of $750,000 in Targeted Allocation Money (TAM) and $300,000 in General Allocation Moneu (GAM).
After completing a high-profile swoop for Sacha Kljestan last month, the signing of Justin Meram represents another marquee move in the Lions’ bid to finally make the MLS Cup Playoffs in 2018.
A Major League Soccer veteran of 188 MLS appearances for Columbus Crew since making his debut for The Black & Gold in 2011, Justin Meram has scored 37 goals in that timeframe.
Registering five goals and 13 assists in 2016 before notching up 13 goals and seven assists last year, the additions of Sacha Kljestan and now Justin Meram will undoubtedly fill the creative void left by Kaká‘s retirement.
Over the next few days, stay tuned to Orlando City UK who will have all the latest news on Justin Meram‘s move to The City Beautiful.
