Just as you thought Orlando City SC were content with all the cards in their deck at the midpoint of the season, the Lions added a brand new signing to their 2019 roster today – Robinho.
Not to be confused with his more famous Brazilian namesake who the Lions were linked with back in November 2017, this Robinho joins from Columbus Crew in a trade in exchange for $50,000 in Targeted Allocation Money.

Only joining Columbus Crew in January 2019, right or left winger Robinho made 19 regular season appearances for the Black & Gold this term with 13 of these coming in Major League Soccer. He still awaits his first goal in the United States.

Going by the full name Francisco Wellington Barbosa de Lisboa, Robinho‘s best assets are his speed and creativity, factors any side could use, especially Orlando City SC.
With James O’Connor not blessed with so many natural wide men in his Lions roster, Robinho‘s arrival addresses an area of need with the diminutive 5 ft 5 in winger now set to battle Nani and Chris Mueller for a starting berth.
With both Orlando City SC and Columbus Crew doing business over the past couple of seasons with Justin Meram and Joe Bendik heading in opposite directions, a condition of Robinho‘s signature is that he won’t play in Saturday’s Eastern Conference showdown at Exploria Stadium.
