Thought the move was dead? It might not be just yet. Yesterday, Orlando City SC supporters learned that Cruz Azul dramatically pulled out of a swoop for Lions transfer target Alex Castro.
Last week alone, Castro claimed he wanted an Orlando City SC move with Oscar Pareja confirming the Lions’ interest before the player turned 180 degrees by opting to join Liga MX side Cruz Azul instead.
Confused? We are too.
From the outside looking in, it appears Alex Castro’s come-and-get-me plea was both his and his agent’s attempt to earn the Colombian winger the best deal possible.
With Cruz Azul, the club of former Lion Yoshimar Yotún, coming in at the eleventh hour to steal Alex Castro away from Orlando City SC‘s clutches, City supporters looked at Castro scornfully.
But the next twist is quite incredible.
According to reporter Rubén Beristáin, he tweeted yesterday that Alex Castro blew his proposed move to Cruz Azul by turning up for negotiations with ANOTHER agent altogether!
Alex Castro le realizó una mala jugada a su antiguo representante y llegó con otro a la CDMX. Esto no fue bien visto y es lo que detuvo las negociaciones en Cruz Azul, quien se hizo a un lado.

With the Mexican side now ruling themselves out of the running to sign Alex Castro, could Orlando City SC now be back in for a player that Oscar Pareja already admitted is interesting the Lions this off-season?
We polled our Orlando City UK followers to find out whether they’d still take a potentially troublemaking Alex Castro at Orlando City SC.

According to our poll of 100 Orlando City SC fans, 66% would still sign the 25-year-old despite his shenanigans this winter.
33% would rather Ricardo Moreira, Luiz Muzzi and the Orlando City SC Front Office look elsewhere for attacking reinforcements this off-season.
