Here at Orlando City UK, we’re spending the Christmas vacation scanning Twitter for news of any new arrivals at Orlando City SC this off-season.
Heavily linked with Facundo Torres since early December, Orlando City SC are also reportedly interested in signing Gastón González, Brian Ocampo, and Martín Ojeda.
With these South American talents linked with a Exploria Stadium switch, Orlando City UK found out more about the trio.
Who is Gastón González?
On December 28, journalist César Luis Merlo tweeted that Orlando City SC had begun talks to buy Gastón González from Unión de Santa Fe.
In a translated version of Merlo’s original tweet, the “final details of the transfer are being worked on, which will be around US $2 million.”
Gastón González is an Argentine left or right winger currently playing for Argentine Primera División side Unión de Santa Fe.
Just 20-years-old, the winger has 7 goals and 7 assists across 49 appearances (all competitions) for Tatengue.
Nicknamed “Picotón”, González has represented his hometown club since the age of seven.
He graduated from Unión de Santa Fe’s youth ranks to the first team in August 2020.
Back in 2019, Gastón González was selected to train against Argentina’s senior squad at the Copa América in Brazil.
There are clearly high hopes for González’s career following this special invitation.

Who is Brian Ocampo?
On December 15, El Observador referenced The Mane Land’s report that Orlando City SC are interested in signing Brian Ocampo this winter.
This article reinforced that Brian Ocampo’s contract with Uruguayan Primera División side Nacional expires on December 30 with no news about a renewal agreement.
Brian Ocampo (pictured) is a 22-year-old Uruguayan international who plays as a right or left winger.
Right footed and standing at 5 ft 8 in, Ocampo actually hails from Florida in Uruguay.
Making over 60 domestic appearances for Nacional, he won the Uruguayan Primera División in 2019 and 2020, as well as the Supercopa Uruguaya in 2021.
Brian Ocampo’s exploits at club level helped earn him his first senior international cap with Uruguay in June 2021.
Receiving his maiden call-up to Óscar Tabárez’s 2021 Copa América squad as a replacement for Giorgian de Arrascaeta, Ocampo debuted against Argentina.
Who is Martín Ojeda?
On December 29, journalist César Luis Merlo tweeted that Orlando City SC have submitted an offer for Argentine winger Martín Ojeda.
In a translated version of Merlo’s original tweet, Ojeda “has offers from Orlando City SC and Dinamo Zagreb.
Both clubs “have an agreement and are negotiating… Whoever pays the most gets it.”
Martín Ojeda currently plays for Godoy Cruz, on loan from fellow Argentine Primera División side Racing Club.
23-years-old, Martín Ojeda stands at 5 ft 9 1⁄2 in and is left footed according to Transfermarkt.
Back in October, Football Wonderkids tweeted that Martín Ojeda had been involved in 52% of Godoy Cruz’s goals (2021).
Registering 10 goals and 3 assists in just 14 games (by October 2, 2021), Martín Ojeda is hot property right now.
