According to a Thursday tweet from journalist César Luis Merlo, Orlando City SC are currently in negotiations to sign Godoy Cruz winger Martín Ojeda.
A long-term target of Orlando City SC, the 24-year-old Argentine was first linked with the Lions back in December 2021 and it appears Ojeda is still a wanted man at Exploria Stadium.

With just one year remaining on Ojeda’s contract at Godoy Cruz, the Argentine side may be tempted to cash in.
Captaining Godoy Cruz in the Argentine Primera División, Martín Ojeda plays as a left winger, right winger, or number 10.
Positions occupied by current Orlando City SC Designated Player Facundo Torres, there is current speculation regarding Facu’s immediate future.
On Monday, the Evening Standard reported that Arsenal are targeting a January swoop for Facundo Torres to provide competition for Bukayo Saka.
Transfer rumours are part and parcel of the MLS off-season, but I wonder whether Orlando City SC are making pre-emptive plans to source Facundo Torres‘ replacement?
Only time will tell.
Who is Martín Ojeda?
Martín Ojeda is a 24-year-old left or right winger who currently plays for Godoy Cruz in the Argentine Primera División.
Currently captain of Tomba, Ojeda is left-footed and stands at 5 ft 10 in.
Starting his professional career with Ferro Carril Oeste in 2016, he’s since played for three other Argentine clubs.
These include Rodrigo Schlegel‘s former team Racing Club, Huracán (on loan), and current side Godoy Cruz.
A regular goalscorer, Martín Ojeda scored 13 goals in 45 games for Godoy Cruz this 2022 season.
This isn’t the first time Martín Ojeda has been linked with a Major League Soccer move either.
Before Orlando City SC were first linked with Ojeda in December 2021, Chicago Fire reportedly came close to signing the player way back in December 2018.
Will Martín Ojeda finally trade his native Argentina for the United States this 2022/23 MLS off-season?
We’ll have to keep our eyes peeled!
