Just when it looked as if this MLS Secondary Transfer Window was passing the Lions by, a tweet from @NordiskNorvege yesterday said that Orlando City SC are ramping up their efforts to sign Kristiansund midfielder Heine Gikling Bruseth.
In a translated version of @NordiskNorvege’s tweet – a tweet that credited Norwegian source @NettavisenSport – it said: “Despite several advances rejected by Kristiansund, Orlando City SC is going all out by offering €1.45 million including bonuses.”
Orlando City multiplie les offres pour Heine Bruseth !💰
Malgré plusieurs avances repoussées par Kristiansund, le club de MLS tente le tout pour le tout en proposant 1,45 million d’euros bonus compris.🧐

Back on August 6, Tom Bogert tweeted that City “could not agree a fee” for Bruseth.
But given @NordiskNorvege’s latest tweet, it appears this move could still be revived.
If it is to go through, Orlando City SC will have to act fast.
After all, the MLS Secondary Transfer Window deadline is this Wednesday (August 14).
With Yutaro Tsukada expected to sign his first team contract with Orlando City SC any hour now, Orlando City UK dug a little deeper to find out who Heine Gikling Bruseth is too.
Who is Heine Gikling Bruseth?
Heine Gikling Bruseth is a 20-year-old Norwegian central midfielder.
He currently plays for Kristiansund in the Eliteserien – Norway’s premier football division.
Left footed and 5 ft 10 in tall, Bruseth was born in Gjemnes, Møre og Romsdal on April 6, 2004.
Heine Gikling Bruseth, who previously represented Norway at the Under-19 and Under-20 levels, made his Norway Under-21 international debut against Denmark on June 6.
And in the current 2024 Eliteserien season, running from March 31 to December 1, Bruseth has made 15 appearances for Kristiansund, tallying two goals and one assist across 921 minutes of action.
From a young age, Heine Gikling Bruseth’s passion for football was evident.
Staring his journey with local club Tingvoll IL, he then joined the ranks of Kristiansund’s youth academy.
Bruseth’s versatility on the pitch is one of his standout qualities.
Though primarily a central or a defensive midfielder, his versatility makes him a crucial asset for Kristiansund.
According to Transfermarkt, Bruseth has also played as an attacking midfielder and even as a centre forward too.
Known for his technical skills, passing diversity, and ground duel combativeness, Bruseth certainly has an interesting profile.
In 2021, at just 17, Bruseth earned a spot in Kristiansund’s senior team, marking the start of his professional career.
Since his Eliteserien debut, Bruseth has been steadily integrated into the first team, gaining valuable top-level experience in Norwegian football.
Additionally, back in 2022, Heine Gikling Bruseth spent a brief loan spell at Norwegian Second Division side Levanger.
Though still early in his career, Bruseth has already shown the talent that could propel him to greater heights.
His game intelligence, stamina, and ball-handling have caught the eye of scouts and fans, marking him as a potential star.
As he develops, Bruseth is poised to become a key figure for Kristiansund, with ambitions possibly extending beyond Norwegian football.
After all, Orlando City SC are currently trying to tempt him to Major League Soccer at just 20-years-old.
His progress will be closely watched by Kristiansund fans and those interested in the future of Norwegian football.
Heine Gikling Bruseth’s journey is just beginning, but his strong foundation suggests a bright future ahead.
Do Orlando City SC need Heine Gikling Bruseth?
In a word, yes!
After all, we lack natural balance in central midfield at present.
César Araújo, Wilder Cartagena, Jeorgio Kocevski, and Felipe Martins are all right footed.
Since Nicolás Lodeiro is our only left footed central midfield option, the squad definitely needs another natural left footer like Heine Gikling Bruseth.
KEY: Players marked in orange are currently unavailable due to injury or being on loan elsewhere.
While he isn’t a household name, Heine Gikling Bruseth would be an investment in our future.
And if Bruseth does end up signing for Orlando City SC, he will be the first-ever Norwegian player to represent the Lions.
