Orlando City SC’s flair for the dramatic was on full display last Saturday. You could even call it a Hollywood ending! On the night, a late surge saw the Lions secure a 1-2 comeback win at LA Galaxy – marking Oscar Pareja’s 200th match in charge and City’s second straight victory at Dignity Health Sports Park.
Having just achieved back-to-back MLS victories, the Lions now head to Subaru Park with revenge on their minds. Philadelphia Union’s 2-4 win on opening night remains Orlando City SC’s only home loss of 2025, but with City’s attack firing on all cylinders and confidence soaring after our first road win of the season, there’s no reason to fear this challenge. Meanwhile, Union are looking to bounce back after a 2-1 loss at Inter Miami, setting the stage for another intense Eastern Conference clash.
Last time out
Last Saturday, Orlando City SC staged a dramatic late comeback to secure their first road win of 2025, defeating LA Galaxy 1-2 at Dignity Health Sports Park. Trailing to a first-half Christian Ramirez goal that was clearly offside, the Lions turned the game on its head in the final quarter-hour. Eduard Atuesta won a penalty that Martín Ojeda calmly converted on 76 minutes, before Luis Muriel’s long-range free kick on 90 minutes comically slipped through John McCarthy’s hands for the winner. The victory not only marked Oscar Pareja’s 200th match in charge across all competitions. It was also Orlando City SC’s second successive victory at Dignity Health Sports Park, following a 0-1 win there in March 2022.
Last head-to-head
Orlando City SC’s 2025 MLS campaign began with an embarrassing 2-4 home loss to Philadelphia Union on opening night. Despite Marco Pašalić’s impressive two-goal debut – breaking two club records with the fastest goal in an Orlando home opener and the fastest MLS debut goal in club history — the Lions’ defensive lapses proved costly. Tai Baribo’s equaliser before half-time set the stage for a disastrous 20-minute stretch after the break, where Dániel Gazdag, Mikael Uhre, and Baribo punished City’s awful defensive mistakes. The Lions controlled possession (55%) and outshot Union 22-11, but lacked the clinical edge. It marked our first-ever opening day defeat in MLS (4-6-1).
What’s at stake this time?
With six games played, Orlando City SC have not only scored the most goals (15) across MLS. We now sit just three points behind Eastern Conference leaders Inter Miami, making this a crucial chance to keep pace at the top. Adding extra motivation, Philadelphia Union handed City a humbling 2-4 defeat in our 2025 MLS home opener – the first time we’ve ever lost one of these games. Revenge will be on the mind of Oscar Pareja and his squad. Fresh off our thrilling comeback win at LA Galaxy – the defending MLS Cup champions no less – City should have no fear heading to Subaru Park. Meanwhile, Philadelphia Union are scarred from last Saturday’s 2-1 loss at Inter Miami – only their second defeat under impressive new head coach Bradley Carnell. With Luis Muriel, Martín Ojeda, and Marco Pašalić leading MLS in Designated Player production through Matchday 6 (a combined 11 goals and 7 assists), Orlando City SC’s attack is in lethal form. If City can tighten up at the back, this is a golden opportunity to make another big statement on the road.
