On Saturday, Orlando City SC sealed a mature and commanding 3-0 victory over New England Revolution, maintaining our strong push towards the 2024 MLS Cup Playoffs. Despite early pressure from Revs, City’s defence stood firm, and a stunning long-range strike from Rafael Santos along with a penalty from Facundo Torres and a goal from Duncan McGuire ensured a second successive 3-0 home win and a first-ever MLS regular season sweep over bogey side Revs!

Our sixth win in eight MLS games and the fifth time in seven that we’ve scored 3+ goals, the victory saw the Lions jump from seventh to fifth in the Eastern Conference, two points ahead of seventh-placed Charlotte FC. Now hosting Charlotte FC ourselves this Wednesday, completing a hat-trick of home wins would not only boost our playoff push but also our hopes of sealing a top four position and home field advantage in the Round One Best-of-3 Series of the 2024 MLS Cup Playoffs.

After all, fourth-placed New York Red Bulls slipped up by losing 2-1 at Chicago Fire, meaning Orlando City SC now only trail the New Jersey side by just three points. Given our current form and consistently strong performances from key players like Dagur Dan Thórhallsson, Wilder Cartagena, and Facundo Torres, there’s a tangible sense of optimism right now. With a late-season surge very much possible, securing a top four finish is most certainly within reach – and who would’ve said that only a few months ago?

As for Wednesday’s visitors Charlotte FC, Dean Smith’s side are coming off a 2-1 defeat at CF Montréal on Saturday. Conceding two quick-fire goals to Caden Clark (23) and Bryce Duke (26), a first-ever Charlotte FC goal by Tim Ream (35) made it a one-goal game but The Crown couldn’t find a leveller, meaning the Mint City side are now winless in their last five MLS fixtures (0-3-2). After a short, breathless, and exciting off-season of refreshment, anticipation fills the air as Oscar Pareja‘s Orlando City SC kick off the 2024 Major League Soccer campaign.

Starting at home for a tenth consecutive MLS season, City open against CF Montréal (just like we did in 2022) after our crushing 2023 MLS Cup Playoffs defeat to Columbus Crew back in November. Continue reading

Rescuing a one-goal deficit to draw 1-1 with Florida rivals Inter Miami, Oscar Pareja‘s Orlando City SC now face CF Montréal in our penultimate home fixture of the 2023 MLS regular season.

In a passionate Sunshine Clásico full of aggression and needle, a scrappy derby had flashes of promise but ultimately ended even. Admittedly a fair result on the balance of play, the Lions were very wasteful in front of goal despite Duncan McGuire‘s 66th minute equaliser – a goal that ensured Inter Miami have still never won at Exploria Stadium. Failing at the first hurdle to defend our 2022 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup title, Tuesday’s really poor 1-0 cup elimination to Charlotte FC compounded already strong feelings of Orlando City SC downheartedness.

Also defeated 2-0 at CF Montréal last Saturday, the Lions have now lost four of their eight MLS fixtures. Each loss has been followed by a win in a super inconsistent run under Oscar Pareja who is now fighting to keep his job. Continue reading

Desperately searching for not only a positive result but performance in an inconsistent 2023 campaign, Orlando City SC achieved both against LA Galaxy last weekend.

Just the tonic we needed, Oscar Pareja’s Lions prevailed 2-0 with Designated Players Ercan Kara and Facundo Torres scoring in a satisfying, convincing display. Continue reading

Orlando City SC‘s hopes of reaching the 2022 MLS Cup Playoffs desperately hang in the balance after City suffered a painful 2-1 defeat at New York City FC on Sunday.

Not a knockout blow, considering the Lions have two games remaining, Oscar Pareja‘s side now visit Inter Miami in our final away game of the season, most definitely the highest stakes Sunshine Clásico yet. Continue reading

Has it sunk in yet? Orlando City SC have reached the 2022 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Final and are just 90+ minutes away from securing their first major honour in our Major League Soccer history.

Thumping New York Red Bulls 5-1 in the semi-finals back on July 27, Oscar Pareja‘s Lions now host fairytale giant killers Sacramento Republic at Exploria Stadium and will never have a better opportunity to put silverware in our trophy cabinet. Continue reading

Losing a crazy game 3-5 to D.C. United on Monday, there’s no time to feel sorry for ourselves with Orlando City SC now facing Florida rivals Inter Miami in the first MLS Sunshine Clásico of 2022.

Really disappointingly, it’s not been a case of home sweet home this season. Exploria Stadium has already hosted five Orlando City SC defeats – simply not good enough with only half the MLS regular season elapsed. Continue reading

After the thrill of defeating Florida rivals Inter Miami 4-2 on penalties (1-1 A.E.T.) in the 2022 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round of 16, Orlando City SC now face Nashville SC in the quarter-finals.

With Nashville SC switching from Eastern to Western Conference in 2022, this is the clubs’ only scheduled meeting this year, and City will be out to avenge their 2021 MLS Cup Playoffs elimination. Continue reading
