After selecting him as the 21st overall pick in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft back on December 19, Orlando City SC have today announced that midfielder Jeorgio Kocevski has been signed to a first team contract at Inter&Co Stadium.
Part way through Round 1 of the draft, the Lions traded $50,000 in 2024 General Allocation Money and $75,000 in 2025 General Allocation Money to Colorado Rapids in exchange for the 21st overall pick. Clearly hoping to get their hands on Kocevski, it all turned out as planned for the Orlando City SC Front Office. In a passionate Sunshine Clásico full of aggression and needle, a scrappy derby had flashes of promise but ultimately ended even. Admittedly a fair result on the balance of play, the Lions were very wasteful in front of goal despite Duncan McGuire‘s 66th minute equaliser – a goal that ensured Inter Miami have still never won at Exploria Stadium. Yesterday, respected Portuguese soccer journalist Bruno Andrade tweeted that Benfica’s Franco Cervi is finalising a switch to MLS with Orlando City SC leading the race for the Argentina international winger.
In a translated version of Andrade’s original tweet, it said Oscar Pareja‘s old club FC Dallas have “also shown interest” in Cervi and risk “disrupting the business”. Continue reading
The number of Orlando City SC off-season departures now stands at six after Canadian international defender Kamal Miller joined Montreal Impact yesterday.
Selected by Austin FC as their fifth and final selection in yesterday’s 2020 MLS Expansion Draft, 23-year-old Miller was immediately acquired by Impact. This was in return for $225,000 in 2021 General Allocation Money, a 2021 MLS SuperDraft first round pick, and $50,000 in conditional 2021 General Allocation Money. Continue reading
