PLAYER RATINGS: Vancouver Whitecaps vs Orlando City SC – 16.07.2016

Orlando City SC ceased their scoreless run of three games with an encouraging 2-2 draw over 3,000 miles away from home at Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday night.

Coming as a huge relief to Lions supporters in the midst of a difficult period for the club following Adrian Heath’s exit, Bobby Murphy‘s side rallied well in a game they might have even won through David Mateos late on. Continue reading

PLAYER RATINGS: Orlando City SC vs Houston Dynamo – 08.07.2016

Following Adrian Heath’s shock sacking from Orlando City SC in midweek, the first game of post-Inchy era ended up in stalemate as the Lions and Houston Dynamo tied 0-0.

An extremely dull encounter with both sides struggling to produce any real quality, plenty of Lions supporters voiced their frustrations at the full-time whistle with Antonio Nocerino involved in an altercation with fans. Continue reading

It happened and now we must deal with it. Everybody connected with Orlando City SC will feel extremely flat today after Fort Lauderdale Strikers eliminated the Lions from the 2016 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup last night.

Going down 1-2 after extra-time, our Florida rivals’ winning goal came in the 120th minute courtesy of Brazilian midfielder PC. It was a knockout blow in every sense. Continue reading

PLAYER RATINGS: Orlando City SC vs Toronto FC – 25.06.2016

A victory at last! Even now I don’t quite know how we managed to pull it off but a 100th minute spot kick successfully converted by Kaká ensured that Orlando City SC bagged their fourth win of 2016 on Saturday.

Overcoming and leapfrogging Toronto FC in the MLS Eastern Conference standings courtesy of the dramatic, last gasp 3-2 victory, it looked as if the Lions were frustratingly going to end up tying their FOURTH 2-2 draw in a row. Continue reading

PLAYER RATINGS: Orlando City SC vs San Jose Earthquakes – 18.06.2016

Orlando City SC racked up their third successive 2-2 draw against San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday evening at Camping World Stadium in a fixture that meant far more than the result alone.

The Lions’ first MLS fixture since the tragic Orlando shooting back on June 12th, the event was an incredibly moving spectacle that saw referee Robert Sibiga temporarily halt the game on 49 minutes to pay tribute to the 49 victims. Continue reading

PLAYER RATINGS: Jacksonville Armada vs Orlando City SC – 15.06.2016

Following a truly tragic week for the city of Orlando, at least Orlando City SC managed to provide a positive escape for at least 90 minutes with a 0-1 win last night.

Defeating Florida rivals Jacksonville Armada of NASL in the fourth round of the 2016 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup at Southern Oak Stadium, David Mateos struck the solitary goal in the second-half. Continue reading

PLAYER RATINGS: Orlando City SC vs Montreal Impact – 21.05.16

What a difference a week makes for Orlando City SC who have now successfully hauled themselves back into the MLS Eastern Conference play-off spots after Saturday evening’s 2-1 victory over Montreal Impact.

After suffering the worst possible start whereby some poor defensive play allowed Impact dangerman Ignacio Piatti to pounce to put Mauro Biello’s side into a fourth minute lead, the Lions eventually roared back into action. Continue reading

PLAYER RATINGS: Sporting Kansas City vs Orlando City SC – 15.05.16

The beginning of a new feature here at Orlando City UK and in association with our friends OCLionsFan, I individually rate the performances of Orlando City SC players from their most recent MLS fixture.

Unfortunately going down 2-1 away to Sporting Kansas City of the Western Conference yesterday, it’s now six Major League Soccer fixtures without victory for Adrian Heath‘s Lions. Continue reading
