PLAYER RATINGS: FC Dallas vs Orlando City SC – 04.07.2016

An already bad week got worse for Orlando City SC yesterday evening as a ruthless FC Dallas side trounced the Lions 4-0.

Now a mighty SEVENTEEN games undefeated at Toyota Stadium, Óscar Pareja’s Toros were fantastic on the night but we have to say that the Lions’ performance left a lot to be desired.

Adrian Heath had opted to bring Luke Boden back into the starting line-up with FC Dallas old boy Brek Shea filling in for the now departed Adrian Winter on the wing but in reality, team changes didn’t seem to matter in this one.

In the end, FC Dallas managed to steam into an unassailable 2-0 lead early on through easy goals awarded to both Walker Zimmerman and Michael Barrios within the opening 21 minutes.

While we might’ve expected a rallying second-half performance with Adrian Heath fuming at the break, it never came.

Both Seb Hines and Servando Carrasco entered the fray in place of Tommy Redding and Kaká at the half and the news is that our Brazilian international captain departed due to a “slight problem with his calf” according to coach Heath.

David Mateos then lost his marker yet again in the shape and form of Matt Hedges who made it 3-0 off a Mauro Díaz free-kick before Fabian Castillo completed the punishment late on when receiving a tap in from substitute Tesho Akindele.

Always going to be a tough assignment for Orlando City SC given FC Dallas’ free-scoring abilities at home, it proved an incredibly difficult night for City supporters to bear.

At the end of the game, Adrian Heath bluntly claimed: “This is not the place to put in probably your worst performance of the season.”

But the past is the past and we have no time to lick our wounds with Orlando City SC now heading back to Central Florida to take on Houston Dynamo at Camping World Stadium on Friday evening.
