Orlando City SC played the game of their lives to achieve their first away MLS victory in just over SIX months when emphatically defeating Montreal Impact 1-4 last night.

Winning back-to-back games under Jason Kreis for the first time, the victory has crucially put the Lions back above the red line in the MLS Cup Playoff spots at present (sixth place, 34 points, 27 played).

Having reeled Mauro Biello’s Montreal Impact in following last night’s victory at Saputo Stadium, Orlando City SC are now only THREE points behind the Canadian side (fifth place) and TWO above D.C. United (seventh place) with the same amount of games played (27).

But it was the manner of Orlando City SC‘s triumph that might just have sparked a huge momentum shift in the Eastern Conference.

Defeating Patrick Vieira’s New York City FC back in Gameweek 25 of course, there is the feeling that Jason Kreis‘ side are coming good when it truly matters.

Looking to emulate the late run that Portland Timbers put together last season ahead of becoming 2015 MLS Cup champions of course, Orlando City SC will now head to LA Galaxy on Sunday, brimming with confidence.

It had all started terribly for the Lions last night with Didier Drogba putting Impact 1-0 up in the very first minute when Joe Bendik horribly fumbled his powerful free-kick.

But in a game that had absolutely everything with Brek Shea crucially tying the game in a frantic opening five minutes, Bendik went on to totally redeem himself during the 90.

Making a world class point blank save from Drogba while then denying him from a potentially momentum-swinging penalty kick in the second-half, everything seemed to click for Orlando City SC.

Following Brek Shea‘s SECOND ever goal for the Lions, Kaká tucked away an excellent assist from Carlos Rivas who was enjoying a rare start in Cyle Larin‘s absence while the events of the 51st minute effectively put the game out of Montreal Impact’s reach.

With Impact stopper Evan Bush seeing red for felling Carlos Rivas who was through on goal but travelling away from it, Kaká’s cool penalty made it 1-3 before the impressive Rivas put the icing on the cake with an excellent cross shot past sub goalkeeper Eric Kronberg late on.

The feel good factor is most certainly back with Orlando City SC right now and don’t we just love it!
