Ticking a first ever Orlando City SC away game off our bucket list in June, Orlando City UK is enjoying another first later this July – attending the 2019 MLS All-Star Game!

With Orlando City SC‘s Exploria Stadium home announced as the venue for the momentous occasion back in September 2018, we look forward to Major League Soccer’s best taking on Atlético Madrid on July 31.

What can our followers expect?

Since first establishing Orlando City UK back in November 2015, I’ve always aimed to help British-based Orlando City SC supporters feel closer to the club and Major League Soccer as a whole.

Just like we did at Montreal Impact away on June 1, our Orlando City UK Twitter followers can look forward to matchday video footage from our two-day trip to Central Florida.

Bringing you pre-game, in-game and post-game footage from the 2019 MLS All-Star Game, we’ll also be reviewing the 2019 MLS All-Star jersey, a bold purple design that was officially launched last month.

Who is making up the 2019 MLS All-Star Game roster?

With the full 2019 MLS All-Star Game roster revealed back on June 24, Orlando City SC supporters can look forward to seeing local hero Nani suit up against Diego Simeone’s La Liga giants.

Named in the Fan XI alongside the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Wayne Rooney and Carlos Vela, 2019 MLS All-Star Game head coach James O’Connor also selected 13 Coach’s Picks including Alejandro Pozuelo and Orlando City SC villain Josef Martínez.

Don Garber’s Commissioner’s Picks were FC Dallas’ talented youngster Paxton Pomykal and Real Salt Lake icon Nick Rimando who will retire at the end of the current 2019 campaign following a 19-year playing career.

With Nani being Orlando City SC‘s sole representative in the squad, it’s a shame there aren’t more Lions on the roster but at least we won’t be risking so many injuries at a crucial stage of the 2019 MLS season.

What about the opposition?

As for Atlético Madrid, North American soccer fans may earn a closer glimpse of João Félix, currently the fifth most expensive player in the world having joined Los Rojiblancos for an eye-watering £113 million earlier this July.

Elsewhere, the 2017/18 Europa League winners boast a star-studded roster of their own including marquee names like Koke, Thomas Lemar, Alvaro Morata and Diego Costa.

With previous MLS All-Star opponents having blooded a mixture of stars and youths in the recent past, we hope Diego Simeone brings his big hitters for this fabulous occasion to showcase Major League Soccer to the watching world.

So until July 31, keep it locked to Orlando City UK and look out for our 2019 MLS All-Star Game content!

Vamos Orlando!
