After much anticipation, the new 2022 Orlando City SC away jersey – “The Sunshine Kit” – has officially been unveiled at Ace Cafe Orlando as part of the 3rd Annual City Art Jam.
Revealing the new look of our road whites with just nine days to go until 2022 kicks off, The Sunshine Kit is our fifth away jersey design in Major League Soccer to date.

The early jersey tease
The Sunshine Kit was first teased back on Monday, February 14.
Orlando City SC subtly tweeted a picture of Alexandre Pato wearing an unidentifiable white jersey – complete only with placeholder sunset detailing.
This followed an initial tweet earlier in the day that referenced the forthcoming February 18 launch would be “at sunset” (18:18 local time).
At this stage, it was clear Orlando City SC would be incorporating a famous Florida sunset into their latest design.

The rest of the week saw Orlando City SC tweet a further series of teasers prior to the February 18 unveiling.
What’s new?

This year, the 2022 Orlando City SC away jersey boasts a bold and daring look unlike anything we’ve seen on previous road whites.
The multi-coloured sunshine patterned stripes are the most eye-catching feature on the jersey front.
The stripes start in yellow at the top. Then they transition into orange and then varying shades of purple heading down the jersey. This of course mimics Florida’s famous sunsets.
Orlando City SC SVP of Brand and Marketing Pedro Araujo said: “We’re excited to unveil a new, bold look for Orlando City to sport during the 2022 and 2023 seasons.

The 2022 Orlando City SC away jersey carries four main colours – white, yellow, orange, and shades of purple.
The iconic three Adidas stripes appear in plastic (authentic) rather than material (replica). They run part-way down the right and left shoulders in purple, with purple sleeve cuffs too.
The updated away design sees a round neck employed instead of a V-neck.
All four of Orlando City SC‘s previous four away jerseys have included a V-neck.

The contemporary Orlando Health logo continues as the club sponsor in purple with two MLS sleeve patches featuring gold lettering and purple bordering on either sleeve.
Purple MLS lettering and numbers in the retained MLS 25th anniversary font will adorn the back of the jersey.
Unique features
Unique features on the 2022 Orlando City SC away jersey include a faceless version of the club’s lion crest on the rear neckline of the authentic and replica versions of the jersey.

Elsewhere, a purple bordered rectangle containing Orlando’s downtown skyline features as the jock tag in the bottom left hand corner of the jersey front.

As for the The Sunshine Kit as a whole, purple shorts and white socks will complete the updated road look for Oscar Pareja‘s Lions.
It’s the first time that an Orlando City SC away jersey has comprised purple shorts (rather than white) in MLS.

Buying in the UK?
To secure the 2022 Orlando City SC away jersey for yourself, this is always easier if you’re visiting Central Florida in person.
Currently available to purchase on MLSStore.com, this method does involve infamous international shipping costs however.
Unfortunately for Brits, Kitbag.com ceased any updates to their Orlando City SC jersey inventory at the end of 2019.
In 2021, even Adidas.co.uk and Pro:Direct Soccer didn’t stock the Thick N Thin home jersey.
