Only a few hours after announcing the signing of Jake Mulraney, Orlando City SC yesterday announced the signing of Gastón González too.
The 20-year-old was already rumoured to be joining the Lions in May, but González has already been placed on City’s Season Ending Injury list after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury playing for Unión de Santa Fe on April 19.

Linked with Orlando City SC since December, Gastón González will be eyeing 2023 as his breakout Major League Soccer season after his untimely injury.
With Silvester van der Water also currently injured, yesterday’s signing of Jake Mulraney appears shrewd.
Gastón González has joined the Lions as a U22 Initiative player, signing a three-year contract at Exploria Stadium.
Speaking after the deal was confirmed, Executive Vice President of Soccer Operations & General Manager, Luiz Muzzi, said: “Following Gastón’s unfortunate injury we were able to restructure our deal for him to join the club.

Welcome to Orlando, Picotón!
On behalf of Orlando City UK, we wish Gastón González a speedy recovery from injury as he embarks on his new chapter in Central Florida.
We still await official confirmation regarding which jersey number González will wear at Orlando City SC.
With the Argentine placed on City’s Season Ending Injury list, perhaps he won’t receive a squad number until 2023?
