Probably more important than any on-field signing Orlando City SC could have made this off-season, the Lions have crucially retained the services of dynamic Brazilian duo Luiz Muzzi and Ricardo Moreira who have each signed new two-year contracts through 2025 at Inter&Co Stadium yesterday.
Executive Vice President of Soccer Operations and General Manager Luiz Muzzi, and Technical Director Ricardo Moreira were last promoted back in January 2022 and have each played a pivotal role in City’s player recruitment and subsequent upward trajectory since being hired ahead of the 2019 season – moves that saw Moreira join from Columbus Crew and Muzzi reunite with Oscar Pareja after working together at FC Dallas.

During their time in Central Florida so far, Muzzi and Moreira have brought the likes of Pedro Gallese, Antônio Carlos, Daryl Dike, Robin Jansson, Duncan McGuire, Facundo Torres, and Júnior Urso to Inter&Co Stadium – players that have had a transformational effect on City’s on-field fortunes in Major League Soccer under Oscar Pareja.
As for Ricardo Moreira in particular, his talent scouting ability, knowledge of the South American market, and track record at Orlando City SC has been so impressive that D.C. United tried – and failed – to recruit Moreira for their General Manager position before hiring Ally Mackay for the role back in November 2023.
Besides his Technical Director title, Orlando City UK understands that Ricardo Moreira has now also been promoted to Vice President of Soccer Operations from his prior role of Assistant General Manager.
