Drafted 6th overall in the 2023 MLS SuperDraft, star striker and USMNT player Duncan McGuire has now signed a new contract through 2027 with a club option in 2028. This keeps Big Dunc at Inter&Co Stadium for at least the next three-and-a-bit seasons. Should McGuire move on during this period, at least the Lions can now command a higher fee for him.

A story first broken by Tom Bogert on August 14, McGuire’s new deal has been music to City supporters’ ears. A hugely popular player and undoubtedly one of the best players Orlando City SC have ever drafted, McGuire will not be moving to Europe as many expected. Instead, he will now stay in Central Florida to help the Lions try and achieve their MLS Cup dreams! Continue reading

Linked with Orlando City SC since early August, the Lions have today announced the signing of central midfielder Heine Gikling Bruseth from Kristiansund. Joining MLS as a U22 Initiative player, the 20-year-old has signed a contract through 2026 at Inter&Co Stadium for a fee believed to be worth €1.7 million including bonuses.

On August 7, it seemed the deal had fallen through when Tom Bogert tweeted that “Orlando could not agree a fee”. Despite Kristiansund rejecting several offers from the Lions, the Orlando City SC Front Office persisted in negotiations and ultimately secured their target. In a quiet MLS Secondary Transfer Window, Norway Under-21 international Bruseth will now bring more natural balance to City’s central midfield with his left footed play. Continue reading

In news first broken by Manuel Veth back on August 8, the Lions officially announced today that Orlando City B winger Yutaro Tsukada has signed a first team contract with Orlando City SC through 2025 with club options in 2026 and 2027.

The first ‘new’ signing Orlando City SC have completed during the MLS Secondary Transfer Window, things have been super quiet prior to Tsukada’s first team arrival. But Tsukada will soon be joined by Norway Under-21 international Heine Gikling Bruseth after City agreed a €1.7 million deal for the Kristiansund midfielder. Continue reading

Twitter reacts to… the 2024 Orlando City SC Adidas One Planet pre-match top

To commemorate #EarthWeek later this April, Orlando City SC players will be warming up in a special Adidas One Planet pre-match top – made with 100% recycled Parley Ocean Plastic™.

Unlike previous MLS seasons, these awareness raising kits will only be worn as a pre-match top for warm-ups and not in competition like they were in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, and 2023. Continue reading

After selecting him as the 21st overall pick in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft back on December 19, Orlando City SC have today announced that midfielder Jeorgio Kocevski has been signed to a first team contract at Inter&Co Stadium.

Part way through Round 1 of the draft, the Lions traded $50,000 in 2024 General Allocation Money and $75,000 in 2025 General Allocation Money to Colorado Rapids in exchange for the 21st overall pick. Clearly hoping to get their hands on Kocevski, it all turned out as planned for the Orlando City SC Front Office. After all, the 21-year-old is now officially a Lion and hoping to emulate the success of former draft picks Cyle Larin, Daryl Dike, and Duncan McGuire before him. Continue reading

Heavily linked with Orlando City SC since January 31, the Lions have today announced the signing of experienced striker Luis Muriel from Atalanta. Becoming our third Designated Player after Facundo Torres and Martín Ojeda, and our fifteenth ever DP in MLS, the 32-year-old has signed a three-year contract through 2026 at Inter&Co Stadium for a fee believed to be worth around €2 million.

Despite Duncan McGuire returning to Central Florida after his six-month loan to Blackburn Rovers collapsed, the 45-cap Colombian international Muriel will now, in all likelihood, lead the line for City with the Orlando City SC Front Office pulling the trigger on his permanent transfer now rather than waiting for him to become a free agent in June when his current contract was set to expire in Bergamo, Italy. Twitter reacts to… Luiz Muzzi and Ricardo Moreira’s Orlando City SC contract renewals

(Credit: Orlando City SC)

Probably more important than any on-field signing Orlando City SC could have made this off-season, the Lions have crucially retained the services of dynamic Brazilian duo Luiz Muzzi and Ricardo Moreira who have each signed new two-year contracts through 2025 at Inter&Co Stadium yesterday.

Executive Vice President of Soccer Operations and General Manager Luiz Muzzi, and Technical Director Ricardo Moreira were last promoted back in January 2022 and have each played a pivotal role in City’s player recruitment and subsequent upward trajectory since being hired ahead of the 2019 season – moves that saw Moreira join from Columbus Crew and Muzzi reunite with Oscar Pareja after working together at FC Dallas. Heavily linked with Orlando City SC since early January, the Lions have today announced the signing of centre back David Brekalo from Viking Stavanger with the 25-year-old signing a contract through 2027 (with a club option in 2028) at Inter&Co Stadium for a fee believed to be worth $2.5 million.

After City overcame a cheeky beat-the-deadline loan bid from Blackburn Rovers, the 6 ft 1 in Slovenian international of 11 caps now fills the void left by former City favourite Antônio Carlos who departed Central Florida this winter, returning to his native Brazil when joining Fluminense back in December. Twitter reacts to… Robin Jansson’s new Orlando City SC contract through 2025

Signed from AIK back in March 2019, longtime Lion and club captain elect Robin Jansson has now signed a new contract through 2025 with a club option in 2026, keeping the man affectionately known as “The Viking” at Inter&Co Stadium for at least the next two seasons. A hugely popular player and quite simply the greatest defender in Orlando City SC‘s MLS history, Robin Jansson‘s 2023 campaign was undoubtedly his best in a purple jersey so far.

While the once-capped Swedish international couldn’t toast 2023 with silverware – like he did in 2022 – Jansson started 31 of the Lions’ 34 regular season fixtures and was part of a City defence that conceded just 39 goals. This is by far the fewest amount of goals we’ve conceded in a complete 34-game Major League Soccer regular season. Not bad for a former horseshoe factory worker, right? Harshly not named as a 2023 MLS Defender of the Year finalist, us Orlando City SC supporters truly recognise the 32-year-old’s worth, especially those incredibly accurate raking upfield passes from deep, his immaculate reading of the game, and those surgically precise last ditch tackles that he’s forged a successful MLS career upon.
