With over 10 new signings through the door at Orlando City Stadium so far this MLS off-season, Orlando City SC are still being linked with further new arrivals.

Over the past week, Venezuela international striker Andrés Ponce and Belgian centre back Bruno Godeau have both been linked with transfers to Central Florida.

But who exactly are these players reportedly in James O’Connor, Luiz Muzzi and the Orlando City SC Front Office’s sights?

Andrés Ponce

Last Thursday, MLSSoccer.com reported that Orlando City SC had a €300,000 bid for 22-year-old striker Andrés Ponce accepted by Anzhi Makhachkala according to Russian source Championat.

Seemingly in a two-horse race for the 5 ft 11 in striker, Championat also claimed Chilean side Universidad Catolica are the other party who saw a €300,000 bid accepted.

A well travelled striker, Andrés Ponce is anything but prolific with four goals in fifteen appearances for Anzhi this term being his most prolific spell spread across spells at eight clubs.

That said, he is a senior international for Venezuela alongside stars such as Salomón Rondón and Orlando City SC nemesis Josef Martínez having earned five caps and a single goal for La Vinotinto since 2016.

With five forwards currently on Orlando City SC‘s roster in Tesho Akindele, Dom Dwyer, Benji Michel, Chris Mueller and Santiago Patiño, the forward position seems overcrowded but considering Akindele and Mueller typically play on either wing, there is arguably room for one more out-and-out centre forward.

Bruno Godeau

As for Bruno Godeau (pictured), the 26-year-old centre back is currently on the books of Royal Excel Mouscron in his native Belgium.

On Monday, Belgian source Voetbalnieuws.be reported that Orlando City SC are keeping close tabs on the defender.

Having spent his entire professional career in Belgium, Bruno Godeau has also represented Zulte-Waregem, Westerlo and Oostende having started his career at Sacha Kljestan‘s former club Anderlecht.

Making 23 appearances and scoring two goals for Mouscron so far this season, Bruno Godeau is a big aerial threat standing at 6 ft 3 in.

With James O’Connor losing Chris Schuler, Jonathan Spector and Amro Tarek this off-season and replacing these centre back’s with Alex De John and young rookie Kamal Miller, you feel there is definitely room for another addition of pedigree.

Whether that man is Bruno Godeau remains to be seen with the start of the 2019 Major League Soccer campaign now less than a month away.
