North American transfer expert Tom Bogert tweeted yesterday that Orlando City SC have rejected a loan offer from EFL Championship side Blackburn Rovers for striker Duncan McGuire.

With Bogert’s tweet stating that “Orlando have no interest in entertaining loan offers”, Blackburn are the latest side looking to prise McGuire away from Inter&Co Stadium after previous reported interest from Belgian Pro League sides Anderlecht and R.W.D. Molenbeek.

It remains to be seen whether Blackburn Rovers will return with a permanent offer for Duncan McGuire.

Jon Dahl Tomasson’s side are currently placed fourteenth in the EFL Championship.

Right now, the Ewood Park side have Sam Gallagher, Niall Ennis, Harry Leonard, and Semir Telalović as centre forward options.

Back in August 2018, Blackburn Rovers offered $1.25 million to Columbus Crew for midfielder Wil Trapp.

However, Gregg Berhalter implied that Rovers’ offer didn’t meet the club’s valuation and the transfer never happened

While that was a long time ago now, Major League Soccer has indeed been a scouting ground for the Lancashire side.

As for Orlando City SC, English interest in City forwards is nothing new.

Back in February 2021, Barnsley signed Daryl Dike on loan from the Lions before the USMNT forward permanently joined West Bromwich Albion in January 2022.
