In the early hours of Sunday morning, North American transfer expert Tom Bogert tweeted that Orlando City SC have rejected an offer from EFL Championship side Sheffield Wednesday for recently capped USMNT striker Duncan McGuire.
With Bogert’s tweet stating that “Orlando view the offer not close to their valuation”, the Owls are the latest side looking to prise McGuire away from Inter&Co Stadium after previous reported interest Anderlecht, R.W.D. Molenbeek, Blackburn Rovers, and Stoke City.

It remains to be seen whether Sheffield Wednesday will return with an improved offer for Duncan McGuire.
If so, they’ll have to be quick because England’s January transfer window deadline is this upcoming Thursday at 11pm (GMT).
Danny Röhl’s side are currently placed twenty-third in the EFL Championship relegation zone, six points adrift of safety.
At the moment, the Hillsborough side have six centre forwards in their squad.
These strikers are Bailey-Tye Cadamarteri, Ashley Fletcher, Lee Gregory, Callum Paterson, Michael Smith, and Iké Ugbo.
As for Orlando City SC, English interest in City forwards is nothing new.
Back in February 2021, Barnsley signed Daryl Dike on loan from the Lions before the USMNT forward permanently joined West Bromwich Albion in January 2022.
After Cyle Larin, Daryl Dike, and now Duncan McGuire, City have garnered a strong reputation for nurturing young goalscoring talent.
A reputation now more widely recognised in Europe, Orlando City SC are, in some ways, victims of their own success.
As City supporters cross their fingers that Duncan McGuire remains at Inter&Co Stadium this winter, Tom Bogert’s tweet also states that “Sheffield are not the only Championship club chasing McGuire.”
We’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for any more rumours or movement leading up to Thursday’s January transfer window deadline.
Here’s hoping that fan favourite Duncan McGuire sticks around for now before a future transfer to Europe.
